Member Profile: Mai Chow worldwide mural painter

Orange Valley native, and OVCAA member, Mai Chow, is an unstoppable phenomenon in the art world. Her larger-than-life murals have been featured in 15 cities in North America, and six countries worldwide. We sat down to talk with Mai and asked her what makes her tick.
“Simple,” Mai says with a huge smile, “Color… big bright color, and strong muted color, alike, makes me tick.” And both can be seen in her prolific murals painted all around Orange Valley, from her first mural in the Trader Joe’s parking lot on Ashford Street, to her most recent work at the Downtown Post Office – not to mention a hundred or so others throughout the world.

The prodigy muralist has been an OVCAA member since our founding year in 1997 and credits our community with “teaching me how to grow my art and follow my passion.” And Mai is excited to give back to the community that has taught her so much. She’ll be holding a mural painting class during the Art Summer Camp for Kids that is sure to be a hit.

Mai Chow also paints children-inspired murals for all ages.
Thank you Mai, for being a positive example to Orange Valley artists, especially our youth, and paving the way for other young mural artists who gravitate towards your shining star.
